Welcome to the Fly Shop Fishing Report! This week things are really heating up! Temperature wise anyway. With a solid week of between 35-40 degrees surface temps have risen with some lakes now starting to touch the low 70’s range for surface temps. Luckily the higher elevation lakes are still producing some fish. Water temps in the 4500ft range were in the mid sixties still and while hatches seem sparse, early mornings and late evenings have been quite productive for some anglers so don’t discount heading out early and working the shoals and drops for early morning feeders. Evenings can also be quite productive. Dragonfly nymphs crawled up drop offs with a fast sinking line in the evening hours can be deadly this time of year! Check out our double float dragon to try this technique with, you can find them at the shop are tie them yourself with the awesome tutorial from BCFLYGUYS!
Also a friendly reminder, please remember these temperature’s make things a little tougher on the fish. Do you best to play them quickly, keep them wet and get them back as soon as possible to ensure a healthy release.
Tight lines out there folks!
